Continuing Professional Development in Chapel Green School

Staff join Chapel Green with a variety of previous experience and qualifications.

We aim to equip them with the skills they need to fulfil their role as quickly as possible as well as encouraging them to reach their full potential over time.

In-house training for classroom staff includes Norfolk Steps, Use of Positive Behaviour Support tools and therapeutic understanding. 

Communication Strategies including Signalong. We also try to ensure that each class base has staff who are additionally trained to meet the needs within their different curricular routes, including pupils with Profound and Multiple learning disabilities including multi-sensory impairment (Pre-Formal).

Staff are trained when necessary to administer emergency medication, they have manual handling training to kepp themselves and others safe. 

All members of staff are included in the school’s Performance Management process whereby individual professional development needs and interests are identified and matched up with the wider needs of the school, as detailed in the School Development and Improvement Plan.
